The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a reimagining of one of its most iconic signature events – the Taste of Reston. Since 1991, the Greater Reston Chamber has proudly sponsored, produced, and hosted this annual event. Originally known as “Taste of the Town”, this multi-day summer food festival highlighted dozens of local area restaurants and small businesses, while entertaining tens of thousands of patrons. The event was regularly recognized by Virginia Living Magazine as “Northern Virginia’s Best Food Festival”.
Restrictions on public gatherings required the Taste of Reston to be cancelled for the summer of 2020. As communities and businesses begin to recover from the impact of the COVID pandemic, the Greater Reston Chamber recognizes the opportunity to adapt the event’s format to better respond to reality of today’s social climate.
“The Taste of Reston’s rich legacy of community engagement and support of our hospitality industry is incomparable”, says Greater Reston Chamber CEO Charles Kapur. “We are so proud of the amazing events we’ve produced, our thirty-year partnership with the Reston Town Center, and the generous contributions of all our wonderful volunteers and sponsors. At the same time, we recognize the unprecedented challenges our local businesses and our event patrons have faced for over a year. Our local restaurants are focused on operating fully staffed and at full capacity. Meanwhile, the residents of our community are making individual decisions on the types of public gatherings they wish to participate in. The Chamber, carefully considering feedback from our directors, our event stakeholders, and community leaders, feel this is the time to reimagine how we produce future Taste of Reston events.”
The Taste of Reston, as a multi-day event at the Reston Town Center, will not be held in 2021. Plans for a “Taste of Reston Series” – single day, reduced capacity food-centric events held at various locations throughout Reston – are in development. Details will be announced at a later date.
