Reston Community Family Fun Programs Around Reston This Spring

Reston Community Center welcomes and celebrates spring with several events and programs for families. Please join us for these engaging and creative activities at RCC Hunters Woods and around the community as we embrace warm weather and seasonal fun with music, dance, crafts, and hunting for treats in RCC’s pools. Some of RCC’s most popular seasonal experiences are already sold out (Eggnormous Egg Hunt, Spring Break Crafternoons), so don’t wait to enroll in the activities that still have space for children and their families!

Friday, April 1

Crafternoon Pop-Up
12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Decorate wooden eggs at RCC Hunters Woods. Supplies will be provided. This program is free; registration is required. To register, visit myRCC.


Saturday, April 9 – All-Day Family Fun

Save the date for an entire day of excitement!

Founder’s Day
Lake Anne Plaza
12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Celebrate the anniversary of Reston’s founding with the Reston Historic Trust and Museum, RCC and Public Art Reston. The free event features a public art walk, a multilingual birthday party, family activities and family-friendly performances, including an appearance by award-winning duo 123 Andrés.

Underwater Egg Hunt
Terry L. Smith Aquatics Center at RCC Hunters Woods
12:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

$4 Reston/$8 Non-Reston

The Easter Bunny is missing hundreds of eggs, and they have been found floating in the RCC pools. Come splash, swim and hunt – each child will receive a goody bag upon the competition the event. For more information and to register your child by age group, visit myRCC.

123 Andrés at the CenterStage
3:00 p.m. 

$5 Reston/$10 Non-Reston

123 Andrés, a high-energy children’s duo, will get kids and families singing and dancing in English and Spanish. Don’t miss the fun at this Professional Touring Artist Series performance. Tickets are available at the RCC Box Office or online.

Saturday, April 16

Green Reston
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Join us on the plaza in front of RCC Hunters Woods for a fun and eco-friendly family event to mark Earth Day. Come learn about sustainable living and eco-friendly alternatives for household items. Kids’ events include decorating a birdhouse to take home, face painting and making a container garden. Free; registration required. To register, visit myRCC.

As part of Green Reston, there will be a Green Reston Scavenger Hunt April 1 – 16. Families can take part from home anytime. Download a Green Reston Scavenger Hunt Card here. The family with the best picture will win a prize!

Saturday, May 7

Spring Festival
1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

There is more outdoor fun to be found at Reston Association’s Spring Festival at Walker Nature Center. The festival includes live animals, fishing activities, boat rentals, crafts and booths by environmental groups. Family-friendly entertainment is provided by Reston Community Center.
