Scout & Molly’s Celebrates 2nd Anniversary at Reston Town Center

Another year older never looked so good!

Scout & Molly’s, the fashionable women’s clothing boutique, recently marked two years at Reston Town Center and Jane Abraham – who co-owns the store along with twin daughters, Betsy and Julie – knew exactly where she wanted to be when she opened the doors in 2017. “From its start,” she explains, “Town Center has been an important home to Reston’s retail and community activities.  This is where all the lines come together.”

After a successful career in the private, nonprofit and political sectors, and with a wide range of experience serving on educational, cultural and social service boards, Abraham was looking for the opportunity to start a business with her daughters that would allow them to stay true to their commitment to service.  At Scout & Molly’s Reston, the Abrahams are endeavoring to change looks and lives, a philosophy that’s not often found in the clothing business.

On the retail side, the Scout & Molly’s Reston team is inspiring women to feel good (no matter their age) and helping them express their personality and individuality with confidence through the unique styles that the Abrahams personally curate.  “It’s not just about the clothes,” says Jane. “For many of us, there can be a bigger impact; as any woman with a love of fashion will tell you, looking good can make you feel inspired, helping you boost the spirit and skills within.”

Walking into the store on Market Street, customers are presented with a cozy and comfortable setting that’s a little like shopping in your best friend’s closet.  Beautiful clothes and accessories, many styled to be “problem-solving”, are complemented by the team’s personal attention and outfitting expertise, an overall experience that frequently leads to lasting connections with customers.

And their commitment to the community is equally empowering, offering local brands as often as possible and giving back to multiple charities throughout the year.  Through partnerships such as the one with Women Giving Back, the Abrahams are assuring that local women in crisis can access the quality clothes, free of charge, that will help build their confidence and self-esteem (offered with personal attention and uplifting interaction at the WGB’s own boutique-like store in Sterling) and enable them to improve their lives and achieve independence.

This sense of community and lending a helping hand inspired the Abrahams to create a signature event at RTC: Reston Runway to the Cure brings Scout & Molly’s Reston together with other retail neighbors for a yearly fashion show of clothing and accessories at the Pavilion to raise funds for breast cancer research and support services.  Because of the strong community backing, a non-profit board has now been established to oversee this annual event.  The third annual “Runway” is scheduled for October 19th and the giving spirit is clearly catching on, with even greater retail and audience participation expected.

For Jane Abraham and the team at Scout & Molly’s Reston, giving back is always in style! v
