Letter from the Publisher

Summer’s here!  And with it comes a flurry of outdoor concerts, festivals, trips to area wineries, chalkfests, and so much more.  Our editors have brought us some options for enjoying those lazy days of summer.  We hope you’ll enjoy our summer issue.

Reston and the surrounding area are exploding with new living options and new neighborhoods.  In our next issue we hope to bring you an updated look of the luxury living available to us in Reston and the surrounding area today.  Keith Loria and our editors bring you some of the exciting venues at Wolf Trap this summer.  Wolf Trap is such a gift, we hope you’ll take some time and enjoy some of the great line-ups they have in store for us.

Linda suggests we take the kids to an afternoon safari at Roer’s Zoofari, Vienna’s very own zoo.  Cassandra Parker gives us a selection of Live Music Venues and Michael Evans of Helga’s Catering brings us tips for that “Not Your Average Summer BBQ.”

Farm to table?  Renee Sklarew spent some time with Shana Greenbaum and brings us the scoop on how her “Healthy Fresh Meals” operation is creating quite a following and supporting local vendors in our area.  “Clean Foods,” are all the rage today.

And why not?  Thank you Renee.

We love the Dolce Vita Cucina Italiana and Wine Bar in Fairfax. Real Italian, real friendly and really good.  Say “Hi” to Cyrus and try those appetizers. Heaven.

So many fun-in-the-sun festivals this year, and our editors have some choices for you.  Seniors looking to find a new home in some of our area’s Senior Retirement Communities will enjoy Rick Mundy’s interviews with seniors who have moved into their new homes and have some thoughts on the changes and new friends.

A treasure trove of information for our female readers: Undoing the damage to skin caused by the sun’s harmful rays by Analiese Kreutzer, Growing Beauty Trends by Marta Bota and our Julie Holland is into Breezy Bottom Downs.

More wineries?  Linda has discovered a bunch of new wineries in Virginia.  And more.. jokes, horoscopes, Reston and Tysons updates and of course, fun with Jan King.

My parents were immigrants from the Middle East, and my father always reminded us that the booms from the celebration fireworks were not nearly as loud as the pounding of his heart when he saw the Statue of Liberty for the first time.

Happy Birthday America.  Have a safe summer.
