Ever wonder how Reston compares to other planned communities? Join Reston Museum’s upcoming program to learn all about the development of Greenbelt and Columbia, Maryland. Program is free and will be held on September 7, 2022 7 p.m. at Reston Community Center Lake Anne. Everyone must register with Reston Community Center at https://bit.ly/3QnSKeV. Reston Museum has partnered with Columbia MD Archives and Greenbelt Museum to share with the Reston community how their respective communities have developed. An accompanying exhibit will be on display at the Reston Museum September through October 2022.
Erin Berry, the Archivist for the Columbia MD Archives started as an Archives Assistant in 2018 then in 2021 started her role as the Archivist/Manager. She holds a bachelors in History and Cultural Anthropology from Millersville University, PA and a Masters in Library and Information Science from University of Maryland, College Park.
Megan Searing Young has been the Director of the Greenbelt Museum since 2008. The Museum consists of an historic house as well as an exhibit gallery and is focused on the history of the New Deal-era experimental community which was established in 1937. In addition to overseeing the day to day operations of the Museum, she has curated numerous exhibitions, lectured on many aspects of Greenbelt history, and in 2012 co-authored Images of America: Greenbelt. She earned a B.A. in Art History and Women’s Studies from Johns Hopkins University and an M.A. in the History of Decorative Arts from the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Institution, and Parsons School of Design program where she focused on early twentieth century design, material culture, and social history. A Maryland native, she currently lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and two daughters.
