Reston Historic Trust & Museum board member Lisa Sechrest-Ehrhardt will present on the history of Reston’s village centers in our next virtual program on May 12, at 7pm. Reston began in the 1960s with Lake Anne and now Reston has five village centers. Learn how these places have brought the community together, their unique characteristics, and how they have changed over time. The presentation will feature over 50 archival images from the Reston Historic Trust & Museum’s collection.

Lisa Sechrest-Ehrhardt, PHD, MSW, LMSW is a dynamic professional social worker whose career has focused on social justice and cultural diversity with an emphasis on race and ethnicity. She has over 25 years providing interactive diversity workshops to community organizations, schools, and businesses. She is the owner of Sechrest Diversity a Diversity and Inclusion presentations include, “Understanding Self and Others: Becoming a Culturally Competent Social Change Agent”, “Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace”. “Diversity: “Race, Ethnicity, and Microaggressions”, and most recently, “What I Think I heard You Say”, a workshop based on a chapter she wrote in her co-authored book “Socio-economic and Education Factors Influencing American Political Systems”. Her professional vision is to build bridges that connect various populations that celebrate diversity and collaborate to achieve equity and inclusion. Dr. Sechrest-Ehrhardt is an assistant professor at the University of the District of Columbia and the owner of Sechrest Diversity a DEI consulting practice. Dr. Sechrest-Ehrhardt has lived in Reston since 1975.

The Reston Historic Trust & Museum (RHT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Reston’s past, informing the present, and influencing the future of Reston. RHT is located at Lake Anne Plaza and is open Monday through Friday. We are free of charge and conduct educational and public programming, exhibitions, and public events including the Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta, Reston Home Tour, and Founder’s Day.
