RCC Seeks Entertainers for 2020 Reston Multicultural Festival

RCC Seeks Entertainers for 2020 Reston Multicultural Festival

Opportunities also available for art and food vendors, civic organizations and artists

Reston Community Center is seeking performing arts groups of all ages and cultures for the 21st Annual Reston Multicultural Festival. The festival will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Reston’s historic Lake Anne Plaza.

Applications will be accepted through June 19, 2020. Interested groups or individuals should fill out an Entertainment Application Form, available on RCC’s website.

Multicultural Festival applications are being accepted with the sincere hope that we will be able to return to normal operations and come together as a community on September 26 to celebrate our diverse cultures found in and around Reston.

All applications should include audio/video examples of the group’s work. To accommodate as many applicants as possible, selection will be made on the basis of the materials submitted rather than requiring auditions. Materials must include recent samples of representative work by the individual or group applying.

Submissions will be reviewed by the festival’s entertainment committee. Criteria used to evaluate them will include artistic merit, production values, evidence of authentic traditions and forms of specific cultures, and general merit of the performance to the festival. Performance styles can be specific to a particular religious orientation but should not be used to proselytize or overtly promote any one faith over another.

The Reston Multicultural Festival is a family-oriented event and material performed shall be suitable for all ages and free of any content that would be inappropriate for a diverse, multicultural and multigenerational audience. Special consideration will be given to Reston-based organizations. Artists selected for the Multicultural Festival will be notified by July 17, 2020.

In addition to entertainers, entry forms are also available in the following categories:

  • Arts Vendors: Applications due June 19, 2020
  • Community Organizations: Applications due June 19, 2020
  • Food Vendors: Applications due June 19, 2020

All forms and guidelines may be found at www.restoncommunitycenter.com/mcf

Visual artists who wish to participate in the Multicultural Festival art exhibit, Art Mirrors Culture, should check www.restoncommunitycenter.com in mid-July for more information and Call for Entries. Entry forms will be due in mid-August.
