Reston Art Gallery and Studios presents Sandra Dovberg: “At Water’s Edge”

On view from August 5 through August 29

“At Water’s Edge,” a show of acrylic paintings and more by Sandra Dovberg, is a focus on where land meets water from ocean beaches to ponds. From August 5 through August 29, this featured display presented at Reston Art Gallery and Studios (RAGS) includes Dovberg’s fascinating jellyfish wall hangings from her Cnidarian series. Dovberg’s original, one-of-a-kind works reveal her unique perspective and serious craftsmanship in a range of imaginative art objects and jewelry, and her paintings of outdoor scenes, still life, and abstracts.  “The fun is in the doing,” she says. “The most important pieces I am working on are the ones currently in progress and the dream of what is next.”

“At Water’s Edge” is open for public viewing through August on weekends from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sundays at Reston Art Gallery and Studios, on the lakeside,   11400 Washington Plaza West, Reston, VA 20190, at historic Lake Anne Plaza. Visitors can meet the artist on August 8 and 29 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., and on August 14 and 21 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. To see more of the variety of Dovberg’s works – including images from her Cnidarian series – and for contact to request a weekday appointment, follow her on Instagram @sandracdovberg and visit sandracdovbergart.com.

While viewing the show, visitors can also enjoy works displayed by all eight artists of RAGS, as well as the scenery of the lakeside setting. The gallery is located just steps away from Lake Anne’s Saturday morning Farmers Market and is also open during the free Take a Break concerts on the plaza on Thursday evenings. More information is available at RestonArtGallery.com.

Dovberg’s show follows the “Art in Motion” display of fine-crafted mobiles by Wayne Schiffelbein, July 1 – August 1. Coming in September, the month-long “Modern Illuminations” show by Rosemarie Forsythe will include “Engage Nepal,” a special event presented by former U.S. Ambassador to Nepal, Scott DeLisi.
