To better help the Fairfax County community, YMCA Fairfax County Reston is hosting their 18th Annual Y Gala on Nov. 18, 2017, with the theme “Build A Strong Community.” Through events such as the 18th annual gala, the YMCA is furthering its cause to make the Y accessible and available to the entire community by raising much-needed funding for affordable childcare, swim lessons and preschool education.
The Y gala is also a way of honoring a local high school senior who exemplifies the YMCA’s core values—caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The awardee of the Triangle Award will receive a $1,000 scholarship, which will be presented at the gala. Guests attending the black-tie affair will enjoy an elegant evening of music and dancing, food and drink, and a silent auction.
Thanks to the help of donors last year, the YMCA of Fairfax County Reston was able to provide over $462,000 in financial assistance to 1,600 economically-disadvantaged families. These scholarships provided opportunities for families and individuals to use the facilities, send a child to camp, or have a preschooler enrolled in one of the branch’s school programs. Proceeds from the gala will ensure these basic needs are not just a dream for local families, but become a reality through the Y’s “Caring for Community Campaign.”
YMCA Fairfax County Reston is honored and grateful to have the support of other organizations and agencies, such as Reston Community Center, Transaction Network Services, Griffin-Owens Insurance Specialists, Richey Property Management, Cornerstones and many more local supporters.
