“When community works together,
dreams for those in need come true.”
YMCA Fairfax County Reston is hosting their 17th Annual Y Gala on Nov. 12, 2016, with the theme “Make Dreams Come True.” Through events such as the gala, the YMCA is furthering its goal to make the Y accessible and available to the entire community by raising much-needed funding.
Through opportunities in wellness, aquatics, youth sports, summer camps, child care and more, the Y engages more 250,000 individuals and families.
The gala is also a way of honoring a local high school senior who exemplifies the YMCA’s core values—caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The awardee of the Triangle Award will receive a $1,000 scholarship, which will be presented at the gala.
Guests attending the black-tie affair will enjoy an elegant evening of music and dancing, food and drink, and a silent auction.
Thanks to the help of donors last year, the YMCA of Fairfax County Reston was able to provide over $500,000 in financial assistance to 12,400 economically-disadvantaged families. These scholarships provided opportunities for families and individuals to use the facilities, send a child to camp, or have a preschooler enrolled in one of the branch’s school programs. Proceeds from the gala will ensure these basic needs are not just a dream for local families, but become a reality through the Y’s Caring for Community Campaign.
YMCA Fairfax County Reston counts on the support of other organizations and agencies, such as Northrop Grumman, Transaction Network Services, Griffin-Owens Insurance Specialists, and Flynn Realty Associates.
The Gala will be held at the YMCA’s facility, located at 12196 Sunset Hills Rd, Reston, VA 20190. For more information, please visit: www.ymcadc.org.
