The Reston Community Players Announce Their 2017-2018 Season

Celebrating their 51st season, the Reston Community Players (RCP) announced their upcoming season with exciting plays for everyone.

From Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA, with an unforgettable score, to Peter and the Starcatcher, a magical and hilarious tale of fantasy, to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, one of the most successful plays of our time, rounding out with Thoroughly Modern Millie, the 2002 most awarded show on Broadway. This is truly a season you don’t want to miss!


AIDA

Performance Dates: October 20 – November 11, 2017

AIDA is a story of an enslaved Nubian princess that finds her heart entangled with an Egyptian soldier who is betrothed to the Pharaoh’s daughter. Aida is forced to weigh her heart against the responsibility she faces as leader of her people. With an unforgettable score featuring soaring ballads and rousing choral numbers, Aida is a modern crowd pleaser. AIDA will be directed by Andrew Regiec who comes with an amazing reputation for producing quality theater on the Reston Stage.


Peter and the Starcatcher

Performance Dates: January 19 – February 3, 2018.

Peter and the Starcatcher is the story of an apprentice starcatcher and a young orphan boy who find themselves on a life-changing adventure when they are charged with protecting magical “starstuff” from fearsome pirates. This is the grownup prequel to the treasured story of Peter Pan. Directed by Jolene Vetesse, this show is sure to turn the story you’ve known all your life into a whole new-yet-familiar adventure.


Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

Performance Dates: March 9 – 24, 2018

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is an American classic brimming with intensity and wit. The New York Post said “it’s a play of tremendous dramatic impact… and enormous theatrical power.” The show is directed by returning native to the D.C. and Northern Virginia Theatre Scene, Sharon Veselic.


Thoroughly Modern Millie

Performance dates: April 20 – May 12, 2018

RCP will close the season with Thoroughly Modern Millie, winner of Six Tony Awards, a spirited musical romp that takes you back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City. Directed by Duane Monohan. Duane recently graced the RCP Stage as Burt in Mary Poppins.
