The Ballyshaners 40th Alexandria Saint Patrick’s Day Parade
Saturday, March 4 | 12:15pm
The Ballyshaners 40th Alexandria Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, and will feature a Car Show and Dog Show prior to the Parade kick-off. Residents and tourists are encouraged to come early to enjoy the events at one of the DC area’s finest parades. All events are free to the public.
Alexandria boasts the first St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the DC area. Traditionally, this parade is held the first Saturday in March. The parade will feature more than 60 groups including pipe bands, Irish dance schools, community groups, and a host of other performers and entertainment. It’s a fantastic day to spend with family or friends!
The day’s festivities will include a Classic Car Show, located on the 100 block of N. Pitt Street, between King and Cameron Streets. The cars will be on display at 9:00 am.
The “Fun Dog Show” will be held at 11:00 am on the Parade Reviewing Stand on King Street at the intersection with N. Royal Street. The dog show is an annual favorite, with proceeds benefiting the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

St. Paddy’s Kids Festival
Sunday, March 19 | 1pm – 6pm
To round out the weekend of festivities we have our Kids Festival on March 19th from 1-6pm hosted by Merida, Darth Vader & Princess Tiana! Character performances will start around 3:15pm and you will certainly recognize Merida by her flaming red hair and Scottish accent. Merida will also be performing a bow demonstration for the kids and they can even release a suction cup, ended arrow into the sky! Tell your little ones that there is a pot of gold hidden somewhere on our venue and if they find it, they get a special prize. There will also be a scavenger hunt for them to enjoy and if they complete it they will get a gift bag. We will have a craft table on site for them to make some fun Irish art or they can get a four leaf clover painted on their face at our face painting table. Let them let loose in our two moon bounces or watch them climb to new heights on our jungle gym. If your dog is your child, no worries there!
