Saturday, August 11, 12 p.m – 6 p.m
The Reston Historic Trust & Museum’s second annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Anne will be held on Saturday, August 11th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Festivities are free of charge, with all team registrations and sponsorships benefiting the Reston Historic Trust & Museum (RHT). Plan to come down to beautiful Lake Anne Plaza to enjoy the festivities!
Teams of all ages will construct and decorate their own life-size cardboard boats. These boats will then take to the water in timed heats with team members rowing out to a designated buoy and back to the docks at Lake Anne Plaza. Which boats will float and which ones will sink? Awards will be given to the fastest boats in each category as well as the “Titanic” or fastest to sink.
A fun and unique event, the Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Anne is a community favorite – fostering Reston pride and teamwork (as well as a little healthy competition!). Last year’s boats had creative names such as the Rowboat E. Simon, Batboat Mobile, Cereal Killerz, and much more! We can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with this year!
For more information about the event, visit www.restonmuseum.org/cardboard. Registration is currently only open to those who preregistered, you can add your name to the waitlist online and you will be contacted if space becomes available.
