Reston Concerts on the Town Announces 2019 Summer Season

Reston Concerts on the Town, the weekly summer concert series at Reston Town Center, has announced its 2019 lineup. These family-friendly concerts are free and take place every Saturday night from June 1 through August 24, from 7:30 pm – 10 pm, rain or shine.

In its 29th season, the series features talented local and national acts and a wide range of musical styles, including Latin dance, swing, jazz, rockabilly, Afropop, zydeco and folk-rock. These free concerts are made possible by a grant from the Reston Town Center Association, with support from Boston Properties, the owner of Reston Town Center.

The series will launch on June 1 with Solid Gold Saturday Night! Former singers of The Platters & The Drifters, Coleman & Blunt, and their big band will take you on a musical journey of your favorite ‘magic moments’ with classic hits from the ‘50s and ’60s.

What’s new? Half of the bands this year are new to the series. They include:

June 29
Plena Libre

The soul of Puerto Rico: Plena Libre mixes traditional Puerto Rican rhythms with modern Afro-Caribbean influences and folkloric musical roots. These four-time Grammy nominees combine a hard-hitting horn section, master hand drummers, and lush three-part vocal harmonies into a modern blend.

July 27
JD McPherson

Come enjoy a swingin’ evening with national recording artist JD McPherson and his band, who play an infectious blend of rockabilly and ’50s-style rock and roll, inspired by rhythm & blues. Some call him a revivalist, evoking the style of Little Richard, Fats Domino and others from the early days of rock and roll. Yet McPherson has a sound that’s both retro and modern and altogether spirited and refreshing.

August 10
Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers

Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and accordionist Dwayne (Dopsie) Rubin, from Lafayette, Louisiana, has performed the world over. He and his band are zydeco masters and they add rhythm and blues, funk, rock and roll, reggae and pop into their performances.

Highlights also include returning favorites:

June 22
Hard Day’s Night

Back by annual popular demand, Hard Day’s Night brings an authentic Beatles tribute show—complete with harmonies, costumes and replica instruments. Hailing from the rock ‘n roll city of Cleveland, Hard Day’s Night is rated among the top national Beatles tribute groups performing today.

July 20
Good Shot Judy

Also back by popular demand, Good Shot Judy delivers top-notch swing and jazz, covering the classics from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Count Basie and Billie Holiday to modern artists such as Harry Connick, Jr. and Michael Buble. Good Shot Judy will keep you lindy-hopping across the dance floor all night.

Music lovers of all ages are invited to bring chairs and picnics to the concerts. Spend every summer Saturday night at Reston Town Center, dancing under the stars. View the full schedule online: www.restontowncenter.com/concerts.
