Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) has received a project grant from ARTSFAIRFAX for its upcoming exhibition Moira Dryer: Yours for the Taking, on view January 18–April 18, 2020 at the gallery located at the Reston Town Center. The exhibition is curated by GRACE Executive Director and Curator Lily Siegel, and presented in conjunction with the major exhibition of Dryer’s early work at the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, entitled Moira Dryer: Back in Business, also curated by Lily Siegel.
“Without the support of ARTSFAIRFAX, smaller arts organizations like ours would not be able to even imagine ambitious projects such as this one,” says Siegel. “I am thrilled to be sharing Dryer’s astonishing work with the greater DC area through not just one but two exhibitions.”
GRACE will present a selection of works by artist Moira Dryer (b. 1957, Toronto, Ontario; d. 1992, New York, New York), primarily known for her large abstract paintings on wood panel. This exhibition will provide an intimate look at the artist’s practice through works given as gifts to friends and family, many never previously shown publicly. Her work has been exhibited extensively across the United States in institutions such as Boston’s Institute for Contemporary Art; Whitney Museum of Modern Art; and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. Dryer’s work is included in the permanent collections of The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and Museum of Modern Art, New York.

ARTSFAIRFAX’s grants program awards approximately $500,000 in County funds to artists and arts organizations of all disciplines. In FY18, ARTSFAIRFAX awarded 64 grants to 38 arts organizations and 2 artists. ARTSFAIRFAX’s grant recipients provided over 15,000 performances and activities that were attended by more than 700,000 people. ARTSFAIRFAX is the voice of the arts, dedicated to fostering dynamic and diverse local arts, ensuring that arts thrive by providing vision, leadership, capacity building services, advocacy, funding, education, and information.
