Chalk on the Water 2017 Winners

Turn Lake Anne Plaza into Art Gallery

On June 10 to 11, Public Art Reston held its annual “Chalk on the Water” at Lake Anne Plaza. Dozens of participants—from amateur to professionals, children and families—unleashed their inner artists and created beautiful works of art on the floor of the plaza.

Participants were divided into four categories depending on their skill level, and cash and prizes were awarded in each category.

In addition to this celebration of the arts, the Virginia is for Lovers “LOVE” artwork was placed at the plaza, creatively framing Bob Simon’s sculpture into the letter “O”.

Public Art Reston, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is made up of a group of civic leaders who represent Reston’s key community organizations, seeking to inspire a new commitment to public art that builds on Reston’s tradition of supporting community arts and culture. Public Art Reston has been named a 2017 Top-Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits.
