“Artist’s Invitational Exhibit” – 5th Annual at Reston Art Gallery and Studios

Works by 14 artists on display through March, open weekends from 12-5pm

A broad range of works in multiple mediums are on display at the Artist’s Invitational Exhibit through March 30 at Reston Art Gallery and Studios (RAGS). The show features fine art and fine craft by fourteen artists – the collective of eight RAGS artists plus six guest artists who received a special invitation to participate in this 5th annual event with their paintings, pastels, collage, photography, fiber arts, pottery, and more. Everyone is invited to enjoy the Artist’s Invitational Exhibit, open on weekends from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., and by appointment at other times. 

The Artist’s Invitational Exhibit guests are Alison Kerlin – Photography, Kelly Ayotte-Phelan – Pottery, Robert B. Bernhards – East Asian Paintings, Brittany Pratt – Fiber Arts, Jennifer Duncan – Paintings, and Octavia Frazier – Paintings. The exhibit includes depictions of local and international scenes and themes as well as functional and decorative pieces. This variety of guest artists are invited by the artists of RAGS – Gail Axtell-Erwin, Dorothy Donahey, Sandra Dovberg, Rosemarie Forsythe, Pat Macintyre, Julia Tova Malakoff, Marthe McGrath, and Wayne Schiffelbein – whose works include paintings in watercolor, acrylic and oil, mixed media collage, mobiles, photography, original prints, art objects, artist-made jewelry, and more. At any time through any week, RAGS artists can be viewed at work in their on-site studio space through the gallery’s glass façade, located at the “ART” sign at Lake Anne Plaza.

Coming in April

“All 3D!”, a month-long show of three-dimensional art displayed on plinths, suspended from the ceiling, and hung on the walls – created by invited, juried artists and the artists of RAGS. A reception to celebrate the show is scheduled for Sunday, April 10 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. In May, RAGS will present new works by artist Sandra Dovberg in her “Still Lives” show. Also in May, a collaborative art exhibit at Reston Community Center–Hunters Woods will feature works from Reston Art Gallery and Studios and the League of Reston Artists, highlighted with the “Appalachian Spring” concert of bluegrass music presented by the Reston Chorale on Saturday, May 7.
