Artist Receptions at Reston Art Gallery are a Must-Attend

Mark your calendars!

Reston Art Gallery & Studios (RAGS) is a Reston icon that, throughout the years and under Pat Macintyre’s ownership, has been home to beautiful works of art, including painting, sculpture, jewelry, and photography.

Every month, the studio showcases exhibits by different artists, starting with a reception open to the public where guests can meet the artists, purchase art pieces, and mingle with other art lovers.

On May 14, Pat Macintyre and Gail Axtell-Erwin held the opening reception of their joint annual exhibit, “Two Views.” Beautiful, spring-themed paintings from both artists featuring blossoms, flowers, and nature could be appreciated by the public, who also enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and drinks.

On June 11, the group show “Summer Works” included exhibits by all of RAGS’ artists, including Pat Macintyre, Joan Kelly, Ronni Jolles, Dorothy Donahey, Maggie Stewart, Gail Axtell-Erwin, and Wayne Schiffelbein.

Mark your calendars for July 9 from 2pm to 4pm for Wayne Schiffelbein’s artist reception, “Art in Motion,” highlighting the unique mobile art form.

In August, the gallery is holding the group show “Lazy Hazy Days of Summer.” There will also be an exhibit of handmade baskets by Judy Penry, from Reedville, Va.

“We are welcoming two new artists to the gallery—Sandy Dovberg and Marthe McGrath—both painters,” said Pat Macintyre.
