Registration to Win Prizes is Open in the Artists and Families & Kids Categories
On October 17, Market Street at Reston Town Center will become a giant canvas as professional and amateur artists, families, and kids fill the pavement with a kaleidoscope of chalk creations at ChalkFest 2026, one of the community’s most colorful and creative events. Whether you’re ready to show off your artistic skills, create something fun with your family, friends, or coworkers, or simply stroll through and enjoy the art as it comes to life, ChalkFest is a celebration for everyone.
And there’s more than chalk! This free, family-friendly event will also feature live music by Bach to Rock Herndon and free face painting, making it a fun-filled day of art, music, creativity, and community.
Want to create your own masterpiece and compete for prizes?
Registration is required for Amateur Artists and Families & Kids, and signing up early is highly recommended—ChalkFest has sold out in previous years!
Registration for Amateur Artists is $30 and for Families & Kids is $20. Registration for Professional Artists is by invitation only.
No need to bring your own supplies! Registered participants will receive a designated pavement square and a complete chalk art kit. Chalking begins at 10:00 a.m., giving artists plenty of time to turn their squares into works of art before judging begins at 4:00 p.m. Winners will be announced at 5:00 p.m., with prizes awarded in each category, plus Audience Choice Awards.
Businesses and community organizations are invited to be part of the ChalkFest fun!
Whether by sponsoring the event or registering a team, there are plenty of ways to support the arts, connect with the Reston community, and enjoy a memorable day of creativity and team-building. With more than 1,000 visitors at past events, ChalkFest at Reston Town Center is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the community while showing your support for local arts and culture.
