Love Your Body Yoga Festival is back this year to “Celebrate YOGA, commUNITY and WHOLEness.” The free event will be held on Sunday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Reston Town Center, 11900 Market Street.
The event also offers free activities and entertainment for the whole family, including live music, complimentary yoga classes, energy healing demonstrations, and healthy food and drink samples. Soothing therapies such as Reiki, chiropractic, and massage will also be featured, and yoga studios and wellness centers from across northern Virginia will offer classes, services, and share information.
Donations will be accepted for guests to participate in specific classes, and those donations will benefit Cornerstones, a local nonprofit organization that promotes self-sufficiency by providing support and advocacy for people in need. The kids’ tent will offer storytelling, laughter yoga, and more for all ages. There are some new highlights at this year’s event, and all are invited to enjoy the variety of activities, free prize drawings, and many booths on Market Street all day.
One of the new additions this year will be a new Bhakti Bliss Stage, at the corner of Library and Market streets, which will spotlight the art of mantra, music, and sound healing modalities. There will also be a Farm to Table tent with local farmers, distributors, and food artisans each with quality, healthy food.
The Love Your Body Yoga Festival event is the official start of the 10th Annual Virginia Yoga Week, June 11-18, when yoga studios and independent teachers will be offering Karma, free, and $5 classes throughout the Commonwealth.
The festival is organized by Beloved Yoga, which has studios in Reston and Great Falls, and is presented with support from other local businesses and community volunteers.
“This event was born from the desire to create ease and accessibility for people to try yoga, and celebrates the diverse yoga commUNITY of northern Virginia,” says Maryam Ovissi, owner of Beloved Yoga. “At Love Your Body Yoga Festival, everyone can learn about the many ways to take care of their bodies from the inside out – physically, mentally, and emotionally – to feel stronger and healthier.”
Beloved Yoga has also created a Mind Body Fund, supporting yoga teachers to go into the Cornerstones community, making yoga accessible for all.
