2017 Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta

Saturday, August 12, 2 p.m – 6 p.m | Lake Anne Plaza

Cardboard boats of all shapes and sizes will be paddling on Lake Anne this August. The first annual Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Anne will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with all the proceeds benefiting the Reston Historic Trust & Museum (RHT). Register a team today or simply plan to come down to beautiful Lake Anne Plaza to enjoy the festivities!

You may be asking, “What is a Cardboard Boat Regatta?” Participating teams of all ages will construct and decorate their own life-size cardboard boats. These boats will then take to the water in timed heats with team members rowing out to a designated buoy and back to the docks at Lake Anne Plaza. Awards will be given to the fastest boats in each category as well as the “Titanic” or fastest to sink.

A fun and unique event, the Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Anne is sure to become a community favorite – fostering Reston pride and teamwork (as well as a little healthy competition).

Team sponsorships begin at $100 for adults and families or $40 for students (ages 10-18 years of age). There is no limit to the number of rowers or participants assisting with the construction of the cardboard boat. So throw a boat building party and get creative!
