It’s a winter concert series and a celebration of some of the best bluegrass music in the mid-Atlantic area. Concerts are indoors on select Sunday evenings in the auditorium at the Frying Pan Farm Park Visitor Center.

In Fairfax County, Everyone Counts!
The U.S. Constitution requires that each decade we take a count — or a census — of America’s population. The 2020 Census counts every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia, and five U.S. territories. The goal is to count everyone once, only once, and in the right place. You can respond online, by phone or by mail.
Beginning on March 12, every household will receive an invitation to the 2020 Census via U.S. mail about the upcoming Census Day to be held on April 1, 2020.

Friends of Riverbend Park’s 2020 Native Plant Sale
Come revitalize your garden with native flowers and ferns and at the same time support Riverbend Park and the Friends of Riverbend Park.
You may also purchase Virginia Bluebells at the FORB booth at Riverbend Park’s Bluebells-at-the-Bend Festival on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at the Visitor Center. Pre-orders are due before March 21.
Free Junior Golf Open House
A fun introduction to the game of golf offering demos, games & prizes for golfers ages 5-17. Participants also learn about classes and camps while meeting staff from 7 FCPA golf courses.
The free Open House will take place from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Burke Lake Golf Center.

New Blacksmith Tools Needed
Colvin Run Mill is one of the few preserved industrial sites from the 1800s. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, part of a program to support identification, evaluation, and protection of America’s historic and cultural resources.
The Friends of Colvin Run Mill (FOCRM) and the blacksmith have identified a new anvil, a hand blower, cross peen hammers, and vise are needed for the shop.
The new tools cost about $2,300.

2020 Earth Day Fairfax
2020 marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, so come out to celebrate with Earth Day Fairfax with WUSA9 Chief Meteorologist Topper Shutt and the Fairfax County Park Authority at the Sully Historic Site (3650 Historic Sully Way, Chantilly, VA) on April 25, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Poetry Contest submissions are due by March 12th.
Students in grades K-8 are invited to enter the 2020 Fairfax Parks Poetry Contest in honor of National Poetry Month in April. This year’s theme ‘My Parks, My Planet’ celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Students are encouraged to share how local parks inspire them to take care of the planet.
Healthy Strides 5k / 10k
Head out to Burke Lake Park on May 2nd and join the Fairfax County Park Authority for the 9th annual Healthy Strides 5k/10k! Enjoy a scenic run around the beautiful grounds of Burke Lake Park.
The 10k runs along a wooded path, taking runners around the lake while the 5k follows a tree-lined road through the park, is wheelchair accessible and stroller-friendly. Both courses are USATF certified.
