The Mark Morris Dance Group is the preeminent modern dance company of our time. Acclaimed for its grace, power, and confidence the gifted dancers enchant both audiences and critics alike. Morris’s choreographic genius radiates beauty, musical sophistication, and gifted intellect. His choreography is performed to live music performed by the MMDG Music Ensemble and explores the relationship between movement, expression, and music. This program includes “Serenade,” a solo piece set to Lou Harrison’s Serenade for Guitar and Percussion, “Dancing Honeymoon” featuring music from the 1920’s and 30’s, and two brand new works, including “A Forest” set to Haydn’s Piano Trio No. 44 in E major. Morris is hailed as “the most life-enhancingly musical choreographer alive” by The New York Times. Welcome back the dancers and musicians to their Northern Virginia home with an astonishing performance of the best in modern dance.
